Tubing FAQ

Search by OEM Part Number

Material
Which material is clearest? FEP
When is ETFE used? To add extra strength.
Is there a high-temperature material? PFA works to 500°F

Chemicals
Which chemicals affect fluoroplastic tubing? Alkali metals, including sodium, potassium, lithium and others.  These metals remove fluorine from the polymer molecule.

Also extremely potent oxidizers such as Fluorine (F2) and related compounds like Chlorine Trifluoride (ClF3).  Fluoroplastics can handle these compounds, but Fluorine is absorbed into the resins and the resulting mixture can be sensitive to ignition upon impact.

Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), Potassium Hydoxide (KOH), and metal hydrides such as Borances (B2H6) Aluminum Chloride, Ammonia (NH3), Amines such as (R-NH2) and Imines (R=NH) should be avoided.

Dimensions
What dimensions are needed for ordering? ID, OD and material thickness.
What lengths does tubing come in? Usually minimum length is 25ft., maximum coil length up to 250 ft.
