These filters protect expensive equipment by removing corrosive vapors and other damaging particles with a three-stage design.  Pressure-drops cause air to be drawn in through openings in the breather cap. Air passes through a 2 micron solid filter, then a diffuser to ensure effectiveness inside the silica gel chamber.  Vapors are removed as air travels through silica gel.  Once dried, the air goes through a secondary 2 micron solid particle filter and enters the reservoir cleanly filtered.
