Coalescing filter media intercepts and retains incredibly small particles of
solid and liquid contaminants. The useful life of a coalescing filter is
determined by the buildup of solid particles within the media. Coalescing
filters are effective in removing aerosol oils and water (especially condensed
water). If water and oil are coalesced simultaneously obstructions may be
formed. In this case, a general-purpose pre-filter should read used to remove
the condensate. A good general-purpose pre-filter of 5 µ or less can protect and
extend the life of the more expensive coalescing filter
